6.5 x 9 x 5.5”
Stoneware, underglaze

[Don’t Miss Me] When I Leave For Home explores the contrast between the peace of the one who has passed and the grief carried by those left behind. The dark figure, covered in wings, represents someone who has passed on—freed, untethered, and at peace. In contrast, the lighter figure is grounded and heavy, its form straining forward under the emotional weight of memory.
The dark figure cradles the lighter one with a serene, almost sleeping expression. Near its heart, a star symbolizes the soul or spirit—a light not extinguished. Though the gesture could be seen as comforting, the lighter figure’s downward gaze and tense posture reflect the burden of sorrow.
An hourglass filled with stars appears on the lighter figure’s chest, evoking the cosmic nature of life, death, and waiting. A boundary of winged eyes separates the two, marking the threshold between worlds. Even though the lighter figure is burdened, it is not alone—guardians flank its sides, and on the back of its head, a house rests within a protective portal, symbolizing a new life after this one.
The title carries a similar sentiment from the dark figure—a hope that those left behind won’t linger in sadness, but instead imagine them in a new place, awaiting reunion.
